ESSAY AND VIDEO CONTESTS
NAIMUN continuously strives to engage all delegates with the substance of international affairs both in and out of the competitive committee simulation experience. This year, NAIMUN LXIII is thrilled to launch our revamped Essay Contest and Video Contest—an opportunity for delegates to engage with important global issues outside of committee and through creative work!
Please email all Essay & Video Contest submissions to our Director of Operations, Niharika Emani, at n.emani@modelun.org.

PROMPTS
Please note that the essay and video are separate competitions and are each considered individually. Contestants may choose up to ONE prompt in each category for their submission.
Video Contest Prompts
Please note that submissions should be around 1.5 - 5 minutes in length. For the video contest, please keep jokes, impressions, and parodies respectful and cognisant of world developments and regional conflicts.
Prompt One: Create a video report from the year 2050, exploring how new technology has reshaped diplomacy. Use interviews, news clips, and other forms of media to tell your story. Do not be afraid to get creative!
Prompt Two: Create a food vlog where the dish you create represents your country’s culture, highlighting what role it has or could play in international diplomacy.
Essay Contest Prompts
Please note that submissions should be around 800 - 1,250 words in length.
Prompt One: Regional organizations have become increasingly active in mediating conflicts and fostering economic cooperation. Their growing influence raises questions about their ability to address issues where global institutions may fall short. Given the increasing influence of regional organizations in global affairs, do they have the capacity to address conflicts and foster cooperation at the global level?
Prompt Two: While military threats remain, non-traditional security concerns like pandemics and climate change are reshaping international priorities. How are concepts of security evolving in international relations, and what role should diplomacy play in addressing non-traditional threats such as food insecurity, climate change, and pandemics?
